Nutritional Strategies to Improve Poultry Performances and Feed Efficiency
In 1987 Jan Dirk van der Klis started his career in poultry nutrition as a Poultry Scientist at Spelderholt Institute in the Netherlands. During his early years he did his PhD on “Factors affecting mineral absorption in broilers”. Jan Dirk developed the digestible phosphorus system for poultry in the Netherlands, which is currently adopted world-wide. He was involved in the early research on microbial phytase, and wrote the first scientific publication on the efficacy of phytase in laying hens.
Jan Dirk has worked for all three research institutes in the Netherlands, since 2005 as manager poultry research at Schothorst Feed Research, a private institute. Apart from managing a fast growing poultry team, he consulted poultry nutritionists world-wide based on research data generated by his team. He has been invited as a speaker at many congresses. Since 2014 he joined DELACON Biotechnik GmbH as Species Leader Poultry.
